Exciting sprinter Bit Chilli returned to Wentworth Park on Saturday night from a brief Victorian campaign with a devastating 29.77 victory in the first run-off of the Rapidvite NSW Sprint Championship.
The son of Bombastic Shiraz widely renowned as having the ability to run ‘the hands off the clock’ in any event he contests had already posted a sizzling 29.83 at headquarters as well as some extraordinary performances at Dapto and Bulli in particular.
What would have been most pleasing for connections away from his (basically unheard of) 15.77 run home on Saturday night was his abundance of early speed being able to cross his rivals heading into the first turn showing much improved box manners.
Given this performance Ruth Matic’s charge will start a dominant favourite in Saturday nights $10,000 to the winner final with first and second representing NSW at Sandown on Thursday August 30 in the Rapidvite National Sprint Final.
Other heat winners from Saturday night included Orphan Point (30.16), One Tree Hill (29.91) and Mountain Of Love (30.10).

Two heats of the Rapidvite NSW Distance Championships were conducted as well on Saturday night with two spots up for grabs in the Group 1 National Distance Championships at The Meadows on Saturday September 1 in this weeks final.
Ever consistent performer Zin Zin Zanziba staved off the late challengers to claim heat one in 42.95. Now a winner of 11 Wentworth Park races (five over the distance) her front running style will see her extremely competitive in this weeks final.
The second heat was won by Spiral Magic leading all the way in 42.88. Having led up only to be run down in her last three Wentworth Park 720m runs it was a most improved performance by the daughter of Spiral Nikita and Magic Grove to register her maiden distance victory at Wentworth Park.
With noted leaders Zin Zin Zanziba and Spiral Magic having drawn next to each other in Saturday nights final in boxes two and three respectively it will be a most interesting charge into the first turn.
Group 1 performer Miss Grub charged late to claim a finals berth and keep her chances alive in gaining a start to represent NSW at The Meadows on September 1.
