A string of talented gallopers from both New South Wales and Intestate are set to face the starter for the heats of the Group 2 Multicam Routing Systems Black Top at The Gardens this Wednesday night.
The $30,000 to the winner event has attracted some star chasers including Group 1 winners Run’s House (Maturity) and Suave Fella (Paws of Thunder) from the Jason Thompson kennel as well as quality sprinters One Tree Hill, Tasman Queen and Coulta Bomber from the in-form Robert Britton kennel.
Darren Murray will be travelling to The Gardens with his gifted galloper Give Me Five who has posted some sensational times in recent months and has had experience at The Gardens early in his career.
New South Wales main charges include recent National Sprint placegetter Mandagery Man who has a terrific record at The Gardens and evergreen sprinter Jinderra Flame who also has a good affinity with the track and does hold the 600m record at the venue.
Other notable entries for the series include Bim Bam Boom, Orphan Point, True Destiny, Uncle Joel, Lilley Criminal and crowd favourite Two Romeo Road.
The most interesting runner of the series will be the Ken Cheetham conditioned shooting star who despite giving away both age and experience to the majority of his rivals has untapped ability and can run ‘the hands off the clock’ given the right run.
Six heats will be part of a bumper programme this Wednesday night with the official Calcutta to be staged this Sunday at The Gardens Sports Club.
The final of the $30,000 to the winner Black Top will be on Wednesday September 12 along with the $4,000 to the winner consolation.
