The 2007 Nova 969 PAWS OF THUNDER CARNIVAL is underway with 10 slashing heats of the NCA’s flagship event at Wentworth Park on Saturday night.
With 10 seeded greyhounds set to take part in round two this Saturday night we are sure to see four spirited semi-finals with spots in the $100,000 to the winner final on Saturday October 6 up for grabs. The fastest qualifier for the Semi-Finals was the Darren McDonald trained Shanlyn Prince who recorded 30.01 at his first start at the Glebe circuit. Demolishing his rivals by 10 ¾ lengths the son of Token Prince and Shanlyn Maddy has drawn box one in Semi Final three the same draw he had in taking out his heat. The other heat winners along with their times were Uno Joel (30.37), Special Phantom (30.33), Two Romeo Road (30.46), True Destiny (30.21), Front Index (30.22), Jack Dolly (30.24), Orphan Point (30.21), Lue Road (30.09), Burn It Up (30.96). The running of Saturday nights semi-finals will coincide with the running of two heats of the Group 2 Pages Equipment Hire Sydney Cup over the 720 metres.
