ALL HAIL MIAGI
Miagi, continued to add to his ever-growing reputation when he scored an outstanding come from behind victory in the Group 3 $15000 to the winner Homeland Security Newcastle Cup.

Staring the race at the prohibitive odds of 1.40 the Warren and Jill Harper trained champion was first to jump but struck trouble soon after the start. Diddy Shine and Barry’s Special found the early lead but as soon as Miagi found clear galloping room he quickly rounded up the leaders to take the front leaving the straight the first time.

Miagi extended down the back straight with Diddy Shine keeping within distance. Coming to the home turn it looked as though the champ could possibly be in some bother with Diddy Shine running a bottler of a race. But as all true champions do Miagi found plenty and held on to score in a blazing 42.17 an outstanding time considering the trouble he found early.

The Colin Kneeshaw trained Diddy Shine was outstanding in running second and the Gerry lee trained Solito ran a fantastic race to run third. Both greyhounds have had limited staying race experience and are sure to have huge futures over the longer journeys.

During the presentation Warren Harper expressed his relief and excitement at winning one of the Gardens richest events. He revealed that Miagi would now concentrate on the upcoming Summer and Association Cups before embarking on an interstate campaign in the New Year.

The NSW National Coursing Association would like to thank major sponsors homeland Security who are amazing supporter of the Gardens and have expressed their desire to make the event bigger and better next year.
