The highlight from four exciting heats of the Woy Woy Poultry Supplies Young Guns was undoubtedly the whirlwind run from Queensland visitor Knocka Norris who scorched over The Gardens 515m journey in 29.25 eclipsing the previous record of 29.41 held by grand galloper Buddy Rich. Trained by astute Queensland conditioner Reg Kay who had four greyhounds engaged in last nights heats, Knocka Norris already a record holder at the Gold Coast added to his impressive resume having won eight of his eleven career starts. The son of Elite State and Oriental Angel is sure to start a short favorite for next Wednesday nights $15,000 to the winner final despite drawing box five in the final. Heat one was taken out by recent Group 1 Finalist Gold Mambo for trainer Marie Burton in 29.73. The son of Most Awesome and Gold Serenade was camped off the leaders for much of the journey finishing strongly to defeat Kumar Bale who also qualified for the final. The second run-off was taken out by the ever-consistent Awesome Andrew in 29.79. Showing his usual blistering pace the Bruce Mackie trained youngster led all the way to defeat First Star for trainer Ron Bell. The final heat saw Ron Bell qualify another runner into the final with Lorna Moira defeating short favorite Size Can Matter.
